Mills was approached to provide comprehensive technology solutions for a beautiful vacation home about an hour outside of Chicago. Designed to serve as a cherished family retreat spanning three generations, this project presented an exciting opportunity for us to work with both an architect and a builder with whom we love to collaborate. The involvement of a talented Interior Designer from within the family ensured that the interiors were designed with the family’s particular tastes in mind.
Embracing a modern take on the classic farmhouse aesthetic, we strived to seamlessly fuse technology with timeless design elements. Key highlights of our technology integration included the installation of a Samsung Frame TV above a cozy fireplace in the Breakfast Nook. In the TV viewing room, a semi-custom soundbar perfectly matches the television. Adding a touch of sophistication and security, we incorporated brass-finished video doorphones from Doorbird, seamlessly integrated with Ring electronics.
In the outdoor living and pool area, we deployed outdoor WiFi and a landscape music system from Sonance, seamlessly blending into the lush vegetation. The home also has a cozy media room that accommodates 10+ viewers, tastefully designed by the Interior Designer and our partner CinemaTech.
Recognizing the unique needs of a weekend retreat, we designed the home’s technology infrastructure with reliability and remote support in mind. With the ability for remote technicians to provide assistance as needed, the family can enjoy peace of mind knowing that their technology is always in expert hands, even from a distance.
