Hidden Technology: 4 Great Ways To Conceal Your Technology

When the homeowners set out to build their “forever home,” they had a clear vision: a seamless blend of art, architecture, and integrated technology with simple, intuitive interfaces.  The homeowners wanted their technology to enhance the home without distracting from their extensive art collection and views of the lush, forested landscape of the property.

Hidden Technology, 4 Ways

To maintain the aesthetic integrity of the living areas in the home, televisions are concealed within custom cabinets. This required meticulous coordination with the design team to ensure the TVs and mounts were of the proper depth, and fitting precisely without wasting valuable space.

In the primary bath, a vanity TV mirror system was installed, allowing the homeowners to watch the news while getting ready. When not in use, the TV vanishes, transforming back into a beautiful mirror with no trace of the TV.

Outdoors, the landscape audio system speakers and subwoofer are tucked into ornamental grasses surrounding the patio where the homeowners and their guests can enjoy high-quality music without compromising the natural beauty of the space.

Prioritizing both security and style, a simple yet intuitive video doorbell and surveillance system was implemented. In highly visible areas like the front door, Mills Technologies worked with the manufacturer to have a custom finish, avoiding the look of plastic and seamlessly blending with the home’s sleek and modern design.

This project exemplifies how Mills works with the design team and the homeowners to create sophisticated, hidden technology solutions that enhance a home’s functionality while maintaining its aesthetic appeal. The result is a living space where art and technology coexist beautifully, making the homeowners’ vision of their “forever home” a reality.
